Gaza: Aid Trucks Enter Through Jordanian Corridor as Israeli Siege Enters Day 40

Geopolitical summit meeting

AMMAN/GAZA — The first convoy of 34 aid trucks entered northern Gaza through the Jordanian humanitarian corridor at the Allenby Bridge crossing on Saturday, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs confirmed — the first major aid delivery to reach the north in 40 days of siege. The convoy carried food, medical supplies, and clean water for an estimated 120,000 civilians.

Jordan, the UAE, and Qatar jointly funded the shipment. The UN said supplies would be distributed through UNRWA warehouses in Jabaliya and Beit Hanoun. The WHO said 12,000 doses of insulin and 3,000 units of blood plasma were included.

Israeli COGAT approved the convoy after a two-week application process. A senior Israeli official said a second convoy of 60 trucks was being processed. Palestinian health officials said at least 23 people died from preventable causes in the past week alone in northern Gaza. The UN emergency relief chief called the convoy “a drop in the ocean.”

Egypt and Jordan proposed a trilateral mechanism for permanent aid access via the Rafah crossing, which has been closed since January. The proposal is under review by the Trump administration.
